UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011. The Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion is an outpatient clinical facility on UC San Diego Health's La Jolla campus. The facility includes eight surgery suites, basic and advanced imaging, physical therapy and pain management — plus infusion and apheresis services. The four-floor, 156,000-square-foot facility opened in March of 2018. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of patient care. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, and patient education. Position requires initiative, able to prioritize critical demands, exercise independent judgment, and the ability to work in a team environment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities and to quickly assess moderately complex problems to develop potential solutions. Proven knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics. Requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands, and work in a fast-paced team environment. Possess excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to triage symptoms and educate patients.
