Position Description

Under supervision, positions in this title serve in different capacities. As Pharmacy Technician, assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assist in the distribution of medications; performs computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions; maintain inventory levels; Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas. Assists the pharmacy department in the preparation of claims for reimbursement and obtaining authorizations for prescription medications dispensed from the department's outpatient pharmacies according to established procedures; performs assigned operational duties in a scheduled area.

Qualifications

Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Must have previous (retail) Pharmacy Tech experience of 2 - 5 years. Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations. Computer experience and accurate data entry skills. Detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information. Ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines. Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environment. Have excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences. Be a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization. Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
