These ST position will be 12-hour shifts days. In combination with a surgical nurse, the Surgical Technician performs a wide range of duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. The Senior Surgical Technician supports surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers and vendors and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing education/training to new staff. Performs other related tasks as required. Surgical Tech will support Same Day Surgery Operating Rooms, Main Operating Room, Night Call, Wknds and Holidays in conjunction will all other surgical techs in unit. The work location for this position is the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion (MOPP), 2nd Floor Clinic.
Qualifications
Completion of Accredited Surgical Technologist institution or specialized program. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. A minimum of three (3) years of Surgical Technician experience. Strong Orthopedics and/or Sports Medicine experience Proven knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures. Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
