The Trauma Performance Improvement Specialist provides support to the Trauma Program Manager (TPM) for all Trauma Performance Improvement/Peer Review activities. Assures performance improvement in accordance with San Diego Trauma System and the American College of Surgeons-Committee on Trauma verification process. The Trauma PI Specialist is responsible for the PI process, performance improvement plans and utilizes the Trauma registry for the aggregation, monitoring and reporting of regulatory mandated and/or program specific quality metrics. Coordinates, implements and maintains trauma performance improvement/peer review process for the Trauma Program at UCSDH. Reviews adverse events, monitors for trends, develops and plans practice changes in collaboration with the TPM. Works in conjunction with the Trauma Registrars to identify any PI issues. This position is mostly computer work and not direct patient care and location is in Hillcrest. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in nursing or other healthcare profession; or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience. Three (3) years minimum clinical experience in Surgical ICU care, and/or Emergency Department, with knowledge of principles and practices of trauma patient care. Experience in public speaking. Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communications. Skills Knowledge: Ability to think proactively, act creatively, critical-thinking, excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work as part of multiple teams. Ability to work in diverse cultural community groups.
