About this position
Position Description
Under direct and constant supervision performs specimen processing, accessioning, phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks, customer service, clerical duties, effective communication with laboratory customers, problem resolution, record keeping, supply inventory and maintenance, as well as cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment. Additional duties will include operation of instruments, preventative maintenance as appropriate to each section/dept assigned. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards. (See general non-technical section for details). For technical duties related to a specific section, see that section of this JDC. Must have current Phlebotomy Certification issued by the state of California Laboratory Field Services.
Qualifications
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). Knowledge of Hospital Isolation, Infection Control protocols, patient comfort/safety. Experience working in a related lab, preferably in a large, complex healthcare system. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate skills in basic collection and specimen preparation, storage, and disposal of specimens. Knowledge of Scientific Terminology.
