The Perinatal Labor & Delivery RN provides family-centered care across the high-risk Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Birth Center, and Postpartum units at Jacobs Medical Center. Responsibilities include managing labor and delivery, triage, operating room (OR) and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) support, routine couplet care, and caring for late pre-term newborns and high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients. The Perinatal New Grad RN will undergo comprehensive orientation and training in both the Postpartum and Labor & Delivery units at Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla. Upon completing training, Perinatal Nurses will participate in scheduled rotations across both units. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong critical thinking and time management skills, be self-motivated patient advocates, and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The Nurse Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. This program is designed to support Newly Licensed Registered Nurses with a comprehensive transition-to-practice experience through enhanced clinical learning, hands-on skill training and so much more! Under general supervision, the New Grad RN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned. Promotes compliance and support of policies. Achieves trust in professional collegial relationships. Qualifications

Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. California RN license by start date. Depending on applicant pool, may consider interim permits. BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date. Current Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Certificate of course completion of basic fetal monitoring with commitment to obtain certificate of course completion of intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring from AWHONN within six (6) months of hire date. Licensure and certification are not required at time of application but will be required by the cohort start date of September 18, 2026. Must have less than six (6) months of working RN experience. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
