About this position
Position Description
Under general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and/or Supervisor, the Pharmacy Tech II/III position assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assists in the distribution of medications, record keeping, and billing functions; maintains inventory levels; performs assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas. The Pharmacy Tech II/III may also assist the pharmacist in performing best possible medication histories for patients. Depending on experience and licensure of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pharmacy Tech level II or level III.
Qualifications
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by PTCB required for Pharmacy Tech III. Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy required for both Pharmacy Tech II/III. Minimum of two (2) years of Inpatient Pharmacy Tech experience (Pharmacy Tech II). Minimum of five (5) years of Inpatient Pharmacy Tech experience (Pharmacy Tech III). Proven knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations. Strong computer experience and accurate data entry skills. Excellent detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information. Demonstrated ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
