About this position

Position Description

UC San Diego Health Sciences is a multibillion-dollar organization that comprises three professional schools, the region’s only academic health system, and numerous research centers and institutes all working toward fulfilling its tripartite mission. Led by the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences, it accounts for a major portion of the University’s research and philanthropic portfolios and supports an expanding clinical footprint across the San Diego region. With more than 1,900 faculty and 20,000 staff, UC San Diego Health Sciences is home to nationally recognized academic and clinical programs and is widely recognized as one of the premier biomedical research institutions in the world. As part of the UC San Diego Health Sciences Communications Team, the Visual Media Producer serves as the lead photographer and videographer for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences and supports visual media initiatives across health sciences schools, institutes and centers. This position plays a key role in supporting the university’s brand through compelling visual storytelling aligned with established messaging and communications strategy. The Visual Media Producer brings a strong creative perspective to projects, proactively identifying opportunities to elevate storytelling through photography and video. In addition to producing high-quality multimedia content, the role serves as a trusted visual resource and advisor to communications colleagues and leadership — recommending imagery, advising on visual direction, and helping identify photo collections and assets that best support communications goals across web, social media, publications and other platforms.
