UC San Diego Health Sciences encompasses UC San Diego Health, the region's only academic health system, UC San Diego School of Medicine, one of the nation's top research-intensive medical schools, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southern California's first public school of pharmacy, and Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science. UC San Diego Health Sciences' mission is to deliver outstanding patient care through commitment to the community, groundbreaking research and inspired teaching. The division of Medical Education within the UC San Diego School of Medicine consists of the following units: Undergraduate Medical Education, Admissions & Student Affairs, Diversity and Community Partnerships, Graduate Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education & Faculty Development, Simulation Education, Physician Assistant Education, Anatomical Services, Business Affairs and Educational Technology. The division supports the education, training and co-curricular activities of approximately 560 medical students, 90 physician assistant students, 1000 residents and fellows as well as the faculty, physician and healthcare providers at UCSD’s School of Medicine, its' Medical Centers, and affiliates. The Proctor & Operations Support role reports to the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) and is responsible for supporting the administration of UC San Diego School of Medicine (SOM) examinations in accordance with guidelines from the SOM Committee on Educational Policy, the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), and the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). Proctoring duties include monitoring students, starting and ending examinations on time, distributing and collecting exam materials, and identifying and documenting any irregular or unusual behaviors (e.g., students leaving and re-entering the room or not adhering to guidelines). The proctor is also responsible for recognizing and responding to technical or exam-related issues that arise during testing, including promptly escalating concerns in accordance with established protocols. Operational and event support is provided on an as-needed basis and consists of discrete, time-limited tasks (e.g., room setup, materials distribution, and on-site session support) to assist UGME activities during peak periods.

Qualifications

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures with consistency and accuracy. Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to exercise tact, discretion, and good judgment during interactions with diverse groups of people. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and ability to adhere to scheduled exam times. Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness for extended periods in a testing environment. Basic technical proficiency with computers and testing platforms, including the ability to assist with exam setup and escalate technical issues as needed. Ability to work independently while adhering to standardized procedures. Ability to recognize issues during exam administration and respond appropriately, including escalating concerns according to established protocols. Proven ability to work in a team environment and maintain professional demeanor. Ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
