Position Description

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of the Ob/Gyn clinic activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, and patient education. Also serves as a lead for clinic medical assistants. Position requires initiative, able to prioritize critical demands and the ability to work in a team environment.
Qualifications
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Previous experience working in an outpatient Women's Health clinic (minimum two (2) years LVN experience required for senior level classification). Proven knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics. Ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands and work in a team environment. Possesses a positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn. Interacts with all patients and team members with respect, professionalism, and dignity. Applicant demonstrates consistently kindness, empath, and compassion and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written. Applicant consistently demonstrates ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple providers and procedures and knows the care needed for OB/GYN/Incarcerated Pts/Gender Health/Viral OB/Family Planning Clinic. Attention to detail and accuracy handling confidential patient medical information. Able to prep and check lab specimens prior to delivery to lab. Knowledge of sterile technique and instrument prep for transport to Sterile Processing Department. Seeking a candidate high engaged, proactive, and with a can-do attitude. Adaptable and flexible for clinic needs and desire to learn new skills. Able to pre-load new patient information, submit prescriptions for prior authorization, assist patients with durable medical equipment such as breast pump.
