Position Description

The Senior Project Manager within the Department of Transformation leads large-scale, highly complex, cross-functional initiatives aligned with enterprise strategic priorities, including system-wide growth and access, acute care transformation, operating efficiency, and organizational performance improvement. This role independently applies advanced organizational consulting, project management, analytical, and change management expertise to assess complex operational and organizational challenges, develop strategy-driven solutions, and drive execution through implementation and sustainment. Serving as a strategic partner to clinical, operational, and administrative leadership, the Senior Project Manager navigates the unique complexities of an academic medical center environment while balancing competing priorities across clinical care, research, education, operations, and applicable healthcare policy and regulatory considerations. The incumbent must lead initiatives diverse in scope and impact, where evaluation of multiple variables, stakeholder perspectives, organizational implications, and healthcare policy considerations is required to inform decision-making and achieve measurable outcomes. This role exercises a high degree of autonomy and sound judgment in planning, prioritization, stakeholder engagement, and selection of methods and techniques used to resolve moderate to highly complex organizational issues. Success in this position requires demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-wide initiatives, manage complex matrixed stakeholder dynamics, interpret and apply healthcare policy in support of strategic and operational initiatives, and consistently deliver results in fast-paced, ambiguous environments. Key Responsibilities: Independently leads large-scale, highly complex, cross-functional initiatives aligned with enterprise strategic priorities by directing project execution, managing governance structures, mitigating risk, and driving timely delivery of measurable outcomes. Partners closely with department leadership to support strategic portfolio alignment, prioritize initiatives, and ensure workstreams advance organizational goals across a complex academic medical center environment. Conducts advanced organizational and operational analyses to identify systemic issues, develop strategy-driven recommendations and implementation plans, and applies organizational consulting, process improvement, change management, and healthcare policy considerations to drive stakeholder alignment and sustain enterprise-wide transformation.

Qualifications

Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training. Advanced knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized, strategic organization interventions. Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills. Highly skilled in facilitation, consulting and relationship building. Applies strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Possesses strong consulting, relationship building, and strategic thinking skills. Demonstrates skill consulting to managers and groups at all levels. Ability to coach, facilitate and influence people at all levels. Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained; sound judgment; ability to draw unbiased conclusions. Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision. Knowledge of the consulting process to effectively lead engagements from inception to conclusion. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations.
