Since 1973, the UC San Diego Health System Burn Center has served our communities with state-of-the-art burn care and survivor support for families and friends, provided community education, emergency medical personnel training, and conducted research for the advancement of burn care. The Burn Center includes eight critical care beds to treat the most seriously burned patients, 10 intermediate beds, and a full-time burn outpatient clinic. There are approximately 400 inpatients, 3,000 burn clinic visits, and 2,500 Wound Center patient visits per year. The Burn Unit RN provides direct care to acute burn patients, infants through to seniors, using the nursing process. Collaborates with other disciplines to develop a multidisciplinary plan and care. Promotes independence and self-care through education. Skilled in pain management, wound care assessment and pediatric sedation recovery. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.
Qualifications
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. RN license issued by the State of California. BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date. Current PALS certification, or required to obtain within six (6) months of hire. A minimum of one (1) year of recent ICU RN experience (within the last year). Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong ability to communicate clearly.
