About this position
Position Description
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, The CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures such as EKG. Participates in basic medical records coding and monitoring of quality assurance such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient inventory management. Assists with patients transport to other units and procedural areas. Delivers laboratory specimens to lab and blood products to the unit. Assists with CPR during Code Blue. Cross trains to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary and Environmental Care Partner. The position requires initiative, ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in team environment, including training and evaluation of peers, scheduling of work, and assisting with administrative function of unit.
Qualifications
Must possess a valid California CNA Certificate. BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. One (1) or more years of CNA experience in an acute care setting. Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal. Experience working with vulnerable patient populations. Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
