About this position
Position Description
Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager, the Patient Service Representative provides front desk support by performing a variety of clerical and receptionist duties in support of daily patient services within clinical areas: greets patients, check in and check out for appointments, appointment scheduling, insurance and authorization verification, updating patient demographics and registration, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, managing/monitoring petty cash drawer, sorting incoming faxes and paperwork, assisting with sending outgoing faxes, scanning documents to medical records, preparing and sending letters, and working closely with Practice physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSD departments. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Three (3) years of recent (within last 5 years) front office experience in an ambulatory clinic within a large complex healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of third party payors including federal, state, and private health plans. Possess excellent customer service skills and ability to prioritizing in-person patients and phone calls. Possess strong computer skills. Ability to work in an interactive environment. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
