This is an exciting opportunity to join the expanding Outpatient Psychiatry Service in La Jolla at our new Triton Health and Wellness Building. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in psychiatric nursing, with a focus on outpatient care, and hold a valid nursing license in the state. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, enabling effective interaction with patients, families, and colleagues. Additionally, a deep understanding of mental health disorders, medications, and therapeutic techniques, along with a commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on advancements in psychiatric care, will be fundamental in delivering high-quality and holistic care to our diverse patient population. As a vital member of our psychiatry team, the RN will be responsible for physician in basket management in line with scope of practice, responding to symptom escalations and triage calls of patients, monitoring and administration of medications, assisting in safe medication practices, and provide crisis intervention using empathetic listening and compassion for patients, and other duties that fall within the RN scope of practice. The position reports up to the Manager of Outpatient Psychiatry Services. Required travel between UCSD sites, including Hillcrest and Rancho Bernardo. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. RN License issued by the State of California. BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Minimum one - two years Psychiatric RN experience within an ambulatory or inpatient setting.
