Position Description
The Intern pharmacist will assist the pharmacist with patient counseling, transferring prescriptions, assessing patient therapeutic discharge plan, and supporting the Med to Bed program by providing medication delivery and counseling at patient bedside. Will perform a full range of duties in a specialized functional area and able to perform all general tasks in all areas of the pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assist in the distribution of medications; performs computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions; maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned. Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas.
Qualifications
California Board of Pharmacy Intern Pharmacist License. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service and counseling skills,ability to operate computer systems. Proven teaching skills and writing skills, which can be applied to article publication in hospital newsletter and professional journal.
