About this position
Position Description
Reporting to the Epic Ambulatory Specialties Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Epic Ambulatory manager, the Epic Beacon/Ambulatory Analyst is dedicated to Epic Beacon (oncology) application support, with a primary, day-to-day focus on Beacon and Ambulatory crossover — ensuring consistency and smooth integration across the clinical workflows and system dependencies shared by the two applications. The analyst supports clinical areas that rely on Beacon functionality — including Cancer Services, Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT), Infusion Centers, and Apheresis — as well as adjacent areas that depend on close coordination with Ambulatory workflows. The analyst works primarily with the Epic Beacon, Ambulatory, and other analyst teams and with operational and clinical end users, and its work indirectly improves the clinical workflows and tools that clinicians and patients rely on by advancing workflow optimization across integrated processes. Responsibilities center on supporting, optimizing, and troubleshooting the shared workflows where Beacon and Ambulatory processes intersect; reviewing and implementing Epic version updates and upgrades as they pertain to oncology and Beacon/Ambulatory workflows, ensuring release readiness; translating clinical and operational needs into effective Epic functionality; providing problem management and incident resolution; and participating in end-user training.Involvement in larger optimization and strategic initiatives is led by a senior analyst who works closely with the incumbent, with specific assignments evolving over time based on organizational priorities. The incumbent also works closely with other analysts and clinical and operational leaders to advance system integration and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training. Related experience: Epic build and configuration. Experience and proven success in information systems implementation, development and supportwithin a large-scale healthcare organization. Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively, train, support, and work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems at all professional and technical levels. Detail oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time,prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline. Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to convey technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical applications users in a specific, clear, and concise manner. Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to design and execute tests, analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports andanalyses. Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providingadvice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, andperformance. Demonstrated ability to provide expert consultative guidance and direction on change initiatives affecting clinical care processes. Demonstrated ability in workflow and data analysis and design techniques, including needsassessment, specification development, quantitative methods, planning and gap analysis. Ability to effectively utilize system tools to meet functionality needs of users. Ability to plan and organize day-to-day activities along with short and long-term projects; in-depth knowledge of organizational and project planning processes and ability to produce and maintain high quality planning documents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills.
