Position Description
Under the supervision of the practice supervisor the Medical Assistant will support the Orthopedic Surgery practice by providing patient care, clinical support to physician and advanced practice providers. These duties also include but are not limited to: Rooming patients, prepping clinic, returning selected patient phone calls, scheduling patient appointments, entering appropriate information into the Epic EMR, and associated patient system screens; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. and other tasks as assigned. Must be able to work at variable locations and have variable work hours. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Two (2) years recent (within past 6 months) experience as a MA in an ambulatory medical practice. Surgical ambulatory experience. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Demonstrated ability to take initiatives, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.
