Position Description
Under the supervision of the on-duty charge nurse, the hospital telemetry technician carries out dysrhythmia monitoring responsibilities. The Telemetry Tech will be responsible in monitoring inpatient holds in the ED/EDIP who requires continuous cardiac monitoring. As needed, the hospital telemetry assistant will participate in HUSC and other patient care-related duties within the unit under supervision. The Telemetry technician will call for additional assistance as needed.
Qualifications
One (1) year of experience performing telemetry monitoring, interpretation, and cardiac rhythm recognition or equivalent experience performing EKG monitoring duties in an acute care setting (e.g., Emergency Department, Critical Care, or Step-Down Unit). BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Completion of a Telemetry and/or EKG course.
