Position Description

This position will support the Pacific Highlands Ranch Primary Care, Express Care, and Women’s Health departments. Under supervision of the Practice Manager, the Patient Service Representative provides front desk support by performing variety of clerical and receptionist duties in support of daily patient services within clinical areas, including patient registration, greeting patients, check-in and check-out procedures, appointment scheduling, insurance and authorization verification, updating patient demographics, audit billing documents, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, managing/monitoring petty cash drawer, and working closely with Center physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSD departments. Other related duties and administrative tasks may be assigned to support clinic operations and ensure a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

Three (3) years of related front desk, patient-facing administrative experience within a large, complex healthcare setting. Experience with patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and authorization processes. Strong knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans. Ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skills, both in person and over the phone. Demonstrated computer skills/ability to work between multiple systems during calls. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and effectively handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment. Demonstrated professionalism, accountability, and sound judgment, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information. Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to learn new processes, embrace change, and work effectively with minimal direction in a complex healthcare organization.
