Position Description

Under direction, serves as a senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialist with primary responsible for quality system oversight for rapid response laboratory and transfusion services. Coordinates, reviews, and trends Quality Assurance Variances, iReports, suboptimal reports, audits, corrective actions, and quality indicators across sites. Supports regulatory and accreditation readiness, including CAP, AABB, FDA/cGMP, and other applicable requirements. Maintains audit schedules and quality documentation; supports BPDR/regulatory assessments; support validation/change control and PDSA/process improvement activities; and collaborates with supervisors, medical directors, pathology residents, nursing, perioperative, emergency, infusion, risk/patient safety, LIS/HER, and external stakeholders to reduce transfusion-related risk and support sustained quality improvement; other tasks or projects as directed. May perform waived, moderate, and high complexity testing; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting; validates new methods/instruments. Provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. Adheres to all safety policies.

Qualifications

Graduation from college with a major in an appropriate scientific field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or appropriate subspecialty license issued by the California Department of Public Health. Four (4) years of experience as a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist within the designated subspecialty, and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
