Position Description

The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Women's Basketball- Chief of Staff. UC San Diego, located in La Jolla, in the San Diego Metropolitan area, enrolls over 35,000 students, earned recognition as one of the world’s premier research universities, and is ranked as one of the top-10 public universities in the nation. UC San Diego Athletics has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence, sponsors 24 varsity sports, and is NCAA Division I as a member of the Big West Conference. Reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Women's Basketball- Chief of Staff manages the basketball operating budget and team travel plans. Liaison for all conference, academics, housing and admissions needs. Responsible for coordinating women's basketball camps and clinics, working with the coaching staff and a variety of fans, alumni, and booster groups that support the women’s basketball program, and coordinating all women’s basketball recruiting. The incumbent will follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the UC San Diego Athletic Department and NCAA and a commitment to diversity in all of its forms. Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of program activity and best practices. Experience and knowledge of working in an intercollegiate basketball program in an operations position. Problem-solving skills; multi-task, work with frequent interruptions, and effective listener. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast paced environment. Ability to identify and implement methods, procedures, and policies. Ability to use good judgment for problem solving. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Demonstrated ability to convey technical information and provide guidelines in a clear and professional manner, using diplomacy, tact and discretion in all interactions. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals across the range of academic and professional backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, cultures and other personal factors, both inside and outside the organization. Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties. Demonstrated experience using applications, spreadsheets, databases, networks and software packages specific to the field and sport. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment for problem solving; ability to asses data and situations and provide recommendations based on findings; ability to be proactive to avoid potential problems. Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize time, plan, and follow projects through to completion. Strong demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment with numerous interruptions and fluctuating priorities. Ability to develop and adjust routines and procedures as needed. Ability to meet established deadlines, with attention to detail and a keen focus on quality. Proven ability to accurately and thoroughly complete electronic documents, with conscious attention to detail, and identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems or discrepancies.
