Position Description
Under general supervision, positions in this title can be assigned to Inpatient, Outpatient, and Home Infusion units within the Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assists in the distribution of medications; performs computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions; maintains inventory levels; Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas. Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pharm Tech II or Pharm Tech III.
Qualifications
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required for Pharmacy Tech III. Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy required for both Pharmacy Tech II/III. Minimum of two (2) years for Pharmacy Tech II of retail experience is required. Minimum of five (5) years for Pharmacy Tech III of retail experience is required. Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations. Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills. Detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information. Ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines. Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environment. Have excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
