This position is responsible for administering and evaluating a portfolio of ongoing research programs and strategic initiatives under the purview of the Vice Dean of Research in the School of Medicine Dean's Office. The incumbent monitors program effectiveness, coordinates internal and external research stakeholders, and supports governance activities associated with the Vice Dean of Research's priorities. The incumbent is responsible for evaluating outcomes, recommending solutions, and implementing improvements in partnership with the SOM Vice Dean of Research. Oversees operational activities for small to mid-sized academic or research programs offered by the SOM Dean's Office. Administers major program components, and some or all of the program's operational requirements. Develops and organizes conferences and other public forums. Works under direction of Business Initiatives Manager and Vice Dean of Research to establish program objectives, agenda, communication strategies, data collection, analysis and dissemination, and funding and reporting requirements to the School, research agencies, industry partners and external collaborators.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Three (3) or more years of relevant experience. Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills. Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses. Strong organizational, project management, and analytical / problem-solving skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results. Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers. Proficiency in organizing and reporting data with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Experience with interpreting and evaluating research data. Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices. Solid fundraising experience.
