Position Description
The Department of Medicine (DOM) is responsible for fulfilling the teaching, research, and clinical missions of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and employs 486+ full-time salaried faculty members and 100+ academic appointees. Staff personnel include 600+staff in 9 bargaining units, students, and volunteers. There are 250 clinical faculty practicing at multiple sites and hospitals. Recognized as one of the nation's leading HIV primary care clinics, the Owen Clinic provides comprehensive, whole-person care that addresses the medical, behavioral, and social needs of people living with HIV. Located in the heart of Hillcrest, our clinic is deeply rooted in the LGBTQ+ community and committed to delivering culturally responsive, inclusive, and equitable care. We offer a full spectrum of services, including state-of-the-art HIV medical treatment, behavioral health, supportive services, and a nationally recognized research program. Under general supervision, and in addition to performing the full range of operational level duties, responsible for administering a licensed social service program designed to support engagement in care, treatment adherence, and optimal health outcomes for individuals living with HIV. Provides licensed social work services consisting of continuing care services and clinical social work services, including crisis intervention, mandated reporting, information and referral, coordination of health and mental health services with community providers. The social worker is responsible for education and advocacy of patients, families and/or significant others. Participates in related department functions, such as community and program education. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work. Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Ability to work collaboratively as a team. Excellent interpersonal to work with ethnically, culturally and socioeconomic diverse populations. Must have proven independent thinking, decision making, problem solving and prioritizing skills. Excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing. Excellent ability to multi-task with demanding schedules. Resume/CV
