This recognition reflects our commitment to transformational leadership, professional nursing excellence, innovation, exceptional patient outcomes, and an empowering practice environment where nurses thrive This position will provide patient care coverage seven days a week, including various holidays, for various Express Care Clinics located in Eastlake, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, Pacific Highlands Ranch, Downtown or Virtual Express Care as well as future Express Care clinics in the division. The Per Diem (PD) Nurse Practitioner (NP) will serve as an extension of patient care for UCSD Primary Care, providing same-day acute care for common health problems, such as colds and coughs, sore throats, ear infections, UTIs, superficial lacerations, and simple sprains and strains. The NP will also assist with improving access to primary care patients with chronic or acute needs, the provider will also assist with duties such as, but not limited to annual wellness exams, post-hospital follow ups, and population health initiatives as needed. The NP will follow standardized advanced practice procedure guidelines to provide follow-through with the care plan. Assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. Must be able and willing to float to all Express Care locations as needed. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program (FNP). California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification. Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) board certification. BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date. Current PALS certification, or required to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Minimum of two (2) years of recent work experience as a licensed NP in an Emergency Department or Urgent/Express Care clinic. Ability to perform triage and handle critical and/or urgent situations with accuracy, expediency, and tact. Ability to manage own patient load. Must be able to work within a team environment. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
