Life Science Research Professional 1 — Urologic Cancer Innovation Lab (Stanford School of Medicine, Department of Urology) Join a team translating next-generation diagnostics and therapies into real-world care for patients with prostate cancer. The Urologic Cancer Innovation Lab at Stanford partners across medicine, engineering, and computer science, and works closely with industry and academic collaborators, to move high-impact ideas from prototype to clinical implementation. Our work spans multimodality imaging (MRI/ultrasound), AI-enabled cancer detection, focal therapy, and outcomes research. We are seeking a new team member who is energized by high-quality clinical research operations and the craft of building clean, reliable datasets that power discovery and translation. If you enjoy turning complex clinical data into research-ready cohorts and you care about rigor, reproducibility and patient impact, this role is for you. You will play a central role in the lab’s clinical research engine, building the datasets, workflows, and validation processes that make high-impact translational science possible. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of research and operational support, ensuring that our projects run efficiently and effectively. The core duties associated with this position include*: Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects dry lab environments and clinical settings based on knowledge of scientific theory. Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researchers. Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research. Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals. Assist with general research operations maintenance, including managing documentation and consent forms, ensuring that all software tools and resources are up-to-date and accessible, and providing support for ongoing research activities as needed. Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques. *- Other duties may also be assigned. You might be a great fit if you… Have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (biomedical/clinical informatics, data science/computer science, biostatistics/epidemiology/public health, bioengineering/bioinformatics); a Master’s Degree is a plus. Have experience supporting clinical/translational research, including chart review and patient follow-up. Are comfortable working with Electronic Health Record-derived data (STARR/Epic Clarity) and REDCap, and running/maintaining data workflows (Python experience strongly valued). Bring exceptional organization, documentation and communication skills, with a strong commitment to data integrity, ensuring that complex projects progress smoothly. Bonus: familiarity with DUAs, data transfers, IRB documentation, and multi-institution collaboration. Proficiency running data workflows using EHR-derived data (STARR/Epic Clarity) and REDCap. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds. Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and work above shoulders, sort and file paperwork or parts. Rarely climb, scrub, sweep, mop, chop and mix or operate hand and foot controls. Must have correctible vision to perform duties of the job. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours. Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment. The expected pay range for this position is $32.58 to $38.48 per hour.
