Run instrumentation piping. Respond to quick response calls throughout campus using good judgment in assessing problems. Braze copper pipe for specialty gases and oversized water lines. May work independently or as part of a team. May have an area of specialization. May perform any of the duties described in the Maintenance Plumber specification or other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education & Experience: This skill level is generally associated with sufficient experience to qualify as journey level knowledge equivalent to four years’ completion in an apprentice program or a combination of equivalent education and work experience, with approximately six years of actual work experience. This may include time spent in apprenticeship or vocational training. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: In addition to the qualifications listed for the Maintenance Plumber must have sufficient experience to work frequently, work independently and without assistance. Demonstrated ability to work independently in previous work assignments at a skill level equivalent to the Maintenance Plumber classification. Skilled in the use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the plumbing trade. Sufficient experience to qualify as a journeyman. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to act with tact. Proficient at running instrumentation piping. Experienced in brazing copper for specialty gases and oversized water lines Certifications and Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver’s License. Â
Application Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain a California Noncommercial Class C Driver’s License. Constantly twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully. Frequently stand/walk, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally kneel/crawl, reach/work above shoulders, light/fine grasping tools, lift/carry/pull/push objects greater than 40 pounds with assistance. Rarely climb, perform seated work, perform desk-based work, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or part Occasionally operate foot and/or hand-controlled equipment. Ability to perform strenuous and repetitive work. Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. Must have the ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to drive day or night. Â
