Position Description

Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans; Monitor and analyze revenues, expenses, staffing, and funding availability across a complex portfolio of accounts and funding sources; Support strategic decision-making through detailed financial modeling and scenario analysis; Partner directly with Fellows and program leadership to evaluate funding needs, operational priorities, and long-term sustainability; Help ensure compliance with university and institutional financial policies and procedures; Develop and promote best practices for financial stewardship and proactive financial management; Identify operational efficiencies and support the implementation of process improvements; Prepare financial reports, presentations, and analyses for leadership and governance discussions. The Financial Analyst 3 serves as a representative of the Hoover Finance team and as a subject matter expert for complex financial, policy, procedural, and technical issues. This position manages a broad range of responsibilities in a fast-paced academic and research environment, requiring a high level of professionalism, accuracy, organization, sound judgment, discretion, initiative, and attention to detail. Success in this role requires a strategic and critical thinker with demonstrated ability to manage complex financial portfolios, identify risks and opportunities, improve processes, and support leadership decision-making. Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning and financial systems; internet and computer literacy. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Advanced professional communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management. Strong project management skills and ability to contribute to or lead part of a multi-functional team Certifications and Licenses: None PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. Frequently sitting. Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Routine extended working hours during peak cycles; travel to school/unit sites across university. The expected pay range for this position is$144,052 to $163,814 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
