Position title: Lecturer Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. See the salary table for the current salary scale for this position: A reasonable estimate for Lecturer positions is $70,977 to $98,249. Percent time: Part-time, varies by assignment. Courses typically are 25%, 33%, or 44% FTE. Anticipated start: For lecturer pools: "Positions usually start in January, various times throughout the summer and August" Review timeline: Applications are typically reviewed for , fall course needs in May-June, and in October -November for spring course needs. Position duration: Fall, Spring, Summer. Semester or academic year.

Position Description

The Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified, temporary, non-tenure track lecturers to teach a range of physics courses. Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available. We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach small, medium, and large size undergraduate lower and/or upper-division lecture, seminar and/or laboratory courses in Physics. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include: Holding office hours; Assigning grades; Advising and communicating with students; Preparing course materials, including syllabi, homework assignments, and exams - Using a learning management system (e.g. bCourses) and/or maintaining a course website; and, Managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors. Qualifications

Basic qualifications(required at time of application)A Master's degree (or international equivalent degree) or be enrolled in a Master's degree program at the time of application. Additional qualifications(required at time of start)A Master's degree (or international equivalent degree) by the start of the appointment. Preferred qualificationsA Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree), and/or prior college-level teaching experience.
