Position title: Lecturer Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See the following table for the salary scale for this position (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2025-26/represented-july-2025-scales/t15.pdf). A reasonable salary estimate for this position is $70,977 - $120,835. Percent time: Part-time or Full-time Anticipated start: Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and/or Spring 2027. Review timeline: Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available. If available, positions usually start in January, various times throughout the summer and/or in August. Applications are typically reviewed for fall session course needs in May.

Position Description
The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of non-tenure track Lecturer positions to teach MCB courses as the need arises. Teaching Responsibilities We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach small, medium and large size lecture, seminar and/or laboratory courses in the subject areas listed below: Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology Cell Biology, Development and Physiology Genetics, Genomics, Evolution and Development Immunology and Molecular Medicine Molecular Therapeutics General Duties In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), maintaining a course website, and using a learning management system( e.g. bCourses at UC Berkeley, Canvas, etc.).
Qualifications
Basic qualifications(required at time of application)Minimum Basic Qualifications (at the time of application): Laboratory Courses and Lecturer Courses: A Master's degree or M.D. degree (or equivalent international degree) is required by time of application. Additional qualifications(required at time of start)Lecturer Courses: A Ph.D or M.D. degree (or equivalent international degree) is required to teach a lecture course by the time of hire. Preferred qualificationsPreferred Qualifications (by start date): Lecture Courses: Documented experience in teaching one of the biological or life sciences at the college level. Laboratory Courses: Completion of all Ph.D (or equivalent international degree) requirements except dissertation in a biological field or life sciences. Ability to support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy
