Position Overview
Position title: Lecturer Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See the following table for the salary scale for this position. Table 15 The current salary range for this position is $70,977–$107,412. Percent time: Part-time. Up to 33% per course. 11% for Summer sessions Anticipated start: AY appointments start 7/1/2026; Fall semester starts 8/1/2026; Spring semester starts 1/1/2027 and Summer runs from May - August. Review timeline: The department typically reviews applications in May/June for fall scheduling in October/November for spring course needs and in Feb/March for summer scheduling; however, applications will be reviewed throughout the academic year and leading up to any particular semester. Position duration: Semester or Academic Year ; Summer: 6-10 weeks depending on session

Position Description
The CalTeach program at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary non-tenure track lecturers for its undergraduate STEM education courses, should an opening arise. All of these positions will be taught in person. CalTeach Berkeley courses include introductory seminars focused on science or math teaching in elementary and middle schools, Knowing & Learning in Math and Science, Classroom Interactions: Focus on Equity in Urban Schools, Research Methods, Project Based Instruction, History of Science and Math, and Apprentice Teaching for student teaching support. General Duties: Teaching or co-teaching a CalTeach course includes holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, attending monthly faculty meetings, and preparing course materials. Responsibilities may also include assisting with student field placements in local schools, providing supervision and support to student teachers in their classrooms, and supporting CalTeach students through the credentialing process. For upper-division courses, supervision of a graduate student instructor who co-teaches and supports the course may also be expected. Qualifications
Basic qualifications(required at time of application)Masters degree (or equivalent international degree) is required at time of application. Preferred qualificationsA doctorate (or equivalent international degree). At least 3 years of secondary math and/or science teaching experience is preferred, particularly within the Bay Area. Undergraduate teaching experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities are also desirable. The ideal candidate will also have practical experience with scientific laboratory or field research, or science or mathematics education research and program evaluation.
