The current full-time base salary range for this position is $111,400–$139,200 (9-month academic year salary). "Off-scale" salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. Percent time: This appointment may range between 17% and 100% Anticipated start: January 1, 2027, or a later, mutually agreed-upon date

Position Description

The College of Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, seeks candidates for an Assistant Adjunct Professor position. This position will contribute primarily to teaching and have a limited responsibility for research. It will also engage in University and public service consistent with their assignments, as per APM 280-4. A primary duty of the position is to teach courses in the Aerospace curriculum, such as the Aerospace Capstone course, AE100. Teaching will include bringing to the class relevant industry or research experience in space or aerodynamic flight. This position will also more broadly support the aerospace program. This new major in Engineering, with the first class having graduated in Spring 2026, offers a modern aerospace engineering major that combines comprehensive topical coverage, technical rigor and practical relevance. This major has been designed from the ground up for students who aspire to become leaders in an emerging era of aerospace technologies, including sustainable aviation, autonomous flight and space exploration.
