Position Description
UCLA Extension is considered one of the top programs of its kind, offering to more than 35,000 students per year approximately 4,500 classes and non-degree certificate programs to meet the professional development, continuing education, and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of nontraditional students as well as companies and organizations throughout and beyond the Los Angeles region.
Qualifications
Basic qualificationsBachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Education or a closely related field. Current or recent experience as a K–12 educator (e.g., classroom teacher, instructional coach, mentor teacher, or site administrator). Demonstrated expertise supporting effective instruction for English learners, including language development strategies and culturally responsive pedagogy. Ability to teach effectively in an online learning environment (LMS-based instruction, facilitation, feedback, and student communication). Strong written communication skills and ability to provide timely, actionable feedback to adult learners. Ability to evaluate candidate work using rubrics and maintain accurate course records. Commitment to professionalism, equity, inclusion, and ethical practices in educator preparation. Preferred qualificationsMaster’s degree or doctorate in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, TESOL/Applied Linguistics, Educational Leadership, or related field. CTEL and/or CLAD authorization (English Learner Added Authorization) or equivalent documented preparation/experience. Experience in a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)-aligned Induction program (mentor/support provider, coach, or induction leadership). Prior higher education/extension teaching experience and/or course design experience for online professional learning.
