Position Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) invites applications for an Academic Administrator IV position in the area of quantum information science. The department is seeking outstanding candidates with the capacity for excellence in teaching, administering aspects of an academic program, and a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the department. Individuals with a history of and commitment to mentoring students from underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or other related science or engineering fields, as well as experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. Candidate should also have experience or capacity for managing scientific instructional and research laboratories. The successful candidate is expected to lead the instructional laboratory component of the UCLA Master of Quantum Science and Technology Degree Program. This includes the administrative duties of maintaining a world-class teaching lab in quantum information science, the direct instructional support of students enrolled in laboratory classes, and the management of teaching and research assistants supporting these labs. They should have experience with experimental equipment and research techniques in multiple areas including lasers and quantum optics, RF electronics, solid-state devices, nuclear spin systems, and cryogenics. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026 and salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Qualifications
Basic qualifications-Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or a related science or engineering field -Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level Preferred qualifications-Experience or capacity for managing scientific instructional and research laboratories -Experience with experimental equipment and research techniques in multiple areas including lasers and quantum optics, RF electronics, solid-state devices, nuclear spin systems, and cryogenics
