Position Overview

Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5, and Scale 3. The salary range for this position is $121,900 - $319,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position Description

The Department of Biological Chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for one position at the rank of Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Adjunct Professor series (non-tenure track). Criteria for the Professor in the Adjunct Series: Adjunct Professor series faculty engage in teaching, University and public service, which derive from and support their primary responsibilities in research and/or other creative and professional activities. The successful candidate will participate in research and teaching, perform University and public service, and demonstrate professional competency and activity appropriate to the Adjunct Professor series. The appointee is expected to apply for extramural funding to support their research program. The position is dependent upon funding availability. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be consistent with the posted UC salary scales. The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal dependent upon performance, programmatic need, and availability of funding. Additional qualifications • Solid understanding of statistics, image analysis, and/or computer vision. Familiarity with pattern recognition and machine learning is desirable. • Demonstrated ability to work with cameras and detectors for diffraction measurements, specifically microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED) • Knowledge of big data management • Knowledge of cryoEM instrumentation and data formats • Multiyear programming experience in at least one compiled language and one scripting language • Demonstrated capabilities for teaching and research in MicroED Preferred qualifications • Experience with Linux system administration • GPU computing
