The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team in the laboratory of Dr. Leonid Kruglyak in the UCLA Department of Human Genetics. The Kruglyak Lab conducts experiments in model organisms, as well as computational analyses, aimed at understanding how changes at the level of DNA are shaped by molecular and evolutionary forces, and how these changes lead to all the observable differences among individuals within a species. Experience with cutting-edge experimental genetics and genomic techniques in yeast, and with computational analysis of data from these approaches, is required. The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing projects in complex trait genetics, will be motivated to develop and implement a variety of cutting-edge genomic methodologies, and will be excited to work with and develop teams within the lab. Projects may include but are not limited to studies of antifungal drug responses and development of large-scale genetic mapping approaches. A successful candidate will have the following qualifications: • PhD in a biological discipline • Postdoctoral experience in complex trait genetics and genomics of model organisms • Ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment • Desire to conduct genomic and genetic research The successful candidate will: • Be responsible for coordinating and carrying out research in in yeast on genetics of antifungal resistance • Participate in the planning of grant goals and gathering pilot data for such proposals • Be responsible for writing grant proposals for submission to federal agencies and seeking funding to establish own independence • Be responsible for progress reporting to granting agencies • Be responsible for supervising junior lab members • Be responsible for computational analysis of genomic data • Be responsible for writing research papers for publication
