Position Description

The Department of Political Science at UCLA seeks applications for, part-time lecturer positions during the 2026-2027 academic year. We are looking for experienced candidates to fill part-time positions teaching classes in Normative Political Theory. Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, and the writing and grading of exams. Ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and Department staff is essential. Qualified candidates (a) must have a Ph.D. in political science, or a Ph.D. Certificate of Completion by June 16, 2026, and (b) must be actively engaged in political science research reflecting current disciplinary standards. Candidates should provide (1) CV, (2) one-page teaching statement, (3) teaching evaluations, (4) sample course syllabi, (5) statement on contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion and (6) list of courses they can teach with an emphasis on those relevant to this ad (see courses in our course catalog: Browse Political Science (ucla.edu). Relevant syllabi or course summaries are a plus. Preference will be given to applicants who apply by June 9, 2026. However, the search will remain open until any positions are filled. See Table 15 Unit 18 Faculty (Pre-Six Year Lecturers) for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is at an annual salary range of $79,887 - $87,294.
