Position Description
The UCLA School of Dentistry invites qualified applications for a 50% appointment as an Academic Administrator in the Section of Interdisciplinary Dentistry. This position is linked to the functional role of Group Practice Leader. Reporting to the group practice directors and to the chair of the Section of Interdisciplinary Dentistry, the group practice leaders support and contribute to the dental school and clinic mission statements by supervising pre-doctoral student treatment planning and other clinic patient-related activities within the predoctoral clinic. Duties and responsibilities include: Chair-side treatment planning of patients while patient is present Treatment planning of patients outside of direct patient care unit (i.e., office discussion) when the group practice director is unavailable If available, assist other faculty in supervising the delivery of general dentistry procedures by students at times when the clinic is busy Provide input to group practice director on the global assessment of student progress – review performance in clinic as well as progress reports provided by each Section with group practice director Screening of new patients Perform all other duties as assigned by the group practice director Applicants must possess: (1) Dental Degree from an accredited U.S./Canadian dental school, (2) Active California Dental License in good standing, (3) A minimum of 3 years of dental practice experience, and (4) A minimum of 3 years of teaching and/or administration in a dental school setting.
