Position Description
The Department of Labor Studies seeks applicants for a part-time, non-tenure track lecturer position during the 2026-2027 academic year. The department is seeking a candidate who specializes in issues pertaining to courses on contemporary U.S. labor unions, race, and precarious workers; as well as labor sociology and the sociology of work Lecturer appointments are established according to the instructional needs and budget constraints of the department. Applications will be kept on file for consideration for any openings that may occur throughout the year. Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, and the writing and grading of assignments and exams. Ph.D. or terminal degree preferred, but not required. Applicants who are advanced to Ph.D. candidacy or who have a M.A., MF.A., or equivalent may be considered (currently enrolled UC students are not considered). Priority will be given to candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching Labor Studies or proven industry expertise in labor. Please indicate your areas of specialization. UCLA is a world-renown research university with a diverse student population in one of the more diverse cities in the nation; we particularly seek candidates who have taught similarly diverse students in a major research university. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreement. See Table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $73,817 - $78,314. This position is represented by the University Council – American Federation of Teachers. Qualifications
Basic qualificationsPh.D. or terminal degree preferred, but not required. Applicants who are advanced to Ph.D. candidacy or who have a M.A., MF.A., or equivalent may be considered (currently enrolled UC students are not considered). Priority will be given to candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching Labor Studies, research methodology, or proven industry expertise in labor.
