Position Description

The UCLA Music Performance, Education & Composition Department invites applications for a part-time lecturer in Violin Performance and/or String Chamber Music. Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience; percentage of appointment commensurate with courses assigned. Responsibilities include teaching weekly string chamber music coaching and/or violin lessons for violin majors, including both Performance and Music Education majors; students range from first-year undergraduate through DMA level. Must attend and adjudicate student juries and String Chamber Music performances. Applied instruction of violin students may be shared (rotational) with other violin faculty. String chamber music coaching workload dependent upon need. Applicants should have at least four years of experience teaching, with university teaching experience preferred, as well as expertise and experience in the principles of pedagogy and performance. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required with a Doctorate in Musical Arts degree preferred. The anticipated employment date is October 1, 2026, for Fall quarter with a campus wide service period start date of September 21, 2026.
